Suggestion
Grateful for a natural play scape that reflects beauty of surroundings
Suggestion
Please lots of hiking
Suggestion
Walking trails. Sand Volley ball court. Picnic spots.
Suggestion
Yes, please. The launch at Robeson Creek was out (and is possibly still out?) since Chantal. Having a put-in is taking advantage of a natural feature of our environment—not every community has a body of water to paddle on. It's also low-impact: not paving over a bunch of land, or building playplaces and amenity centers on top of what used to be forested areas.
Suggestion
To me, the only purpose of a paved path would be if it connected to some other paths in town, such that it would encourage bike riding off roads that motorists use, i.e., paved paths as transportation infrastructure. I dislike paving nature, and we already have paved park trails right now (CCCC campus, Mary Hayes Barber Holmes Parks). I feel like a big, paved-over, giant-field-with-play-places kind of park belongs in suburbia and Pittsboro is already in danger of losing its charm to become a second Cary. Let Chatham Park, which is basically one huge suburb, make and fund those kinds of park amenities, fully embracing its suburban aesthetic. This part of Pittsboro should aim to keep preserving its natural areas.
I'm a less-is-more person when it comes to trails: let me walk a trail in nature without reading an information sign or seeing a hammock or interacting with fitness equipment. We have those in Pittsboro already (loop around the CCCC campus, for example). The opportunities for real nature walking are fewer. I walk in nature to get away from stimuli, not to have more stimuli thrown at me.
Suggestion
This could have fantastic opportunities to connect people, children and adults alike, through nature. There are also great possibilities for learning opportunities.
Suggestion
spots to enjoy trhe amazin views of the new park would be maazing, especially if the designer has a vision, let them execute it . the benefits could be like austin texas amazing parks, and wilson whirly gig art.
Suggestion
this would deff go along with the walks an zip lines with some hammocks an tree house connections with an overlook sp[ot, woul be an amazing combination pulling things together
Suggestion
pplease give us some amazing fitness things, please add the trails, the fiotness, make this park a beauty for the future people who will move to this fast growing place
Suggestion
zip lines with the houses an a cool play ground art instalation would be coooll
Suggestion
a network of tree houses an chill spots with ropes an nets would be cool
Suggestion
Other than bathrooms and a small informational center, I don't feel this is necessary.
Suggestion
Nature walk signs will be informative and provides opportunities for conversation and education. I also like the idea of having these in our greenspaces. NC is home to a variety of flora and fauna that we would all benefit from knowing more about.
Suggestion
A paved trail will be great for visitors who want to enjoy time in nature but have mobility difficulties. Making the park more accessible for some makes it better for all!

We envision a return to the timeless tradition of natural play—where children climb, balance, and imagine on structures crafted from un-milled native wood and stone. Unlike plastic or fiberglass, these elements carry the character of the land itself, offering textures, scents, and shapes that awaken the senses and deepen a child’s connection to nature. Though such materials may weather and eventually give way to time, their very impermanence becomes part of the lesson: that nature is dynamic, alive, and ever-changing. As logs soften into nurse habitats for fungi and insects, and stones warm beneath the sun, the play environment evolves, reminding visitors that play is not separate from the natural world but rooted within it. These structures cost less to build, leave lighter footprints on the earth, and inspire richer, more imaginative forms of play—an approach that honors both ecological stewardship and the joy of discovery.
Suggestion
Please can we return to our tradition of natural play structures? Made from un-milled native wood and stone? They may not last as long as plastic and fiberglass, but they are less expensive and as they degrade, they offer additional lessons, experiences, and sensations.
Suggestion
Let's make the Outdoor Classroom an immersive ecological experience for visitors!

Meandering trail system: Blend accessible loops, quiet footpaths, and boardwalks over wetlands. Use permeable surfaces (mulch, crushed stone, recycled composites).

Creek overlooks: Small decks or natural stone seating with interpretive signs about water quality, local history, and wildlife.

Forest classroom: An open-air pavilion or shaded circle of logs/benches for school groups, community events, and storytelling.

Night sky area: A meadow or clearing designated for star-watching programs, with minimal nearby lighting.
I would love for us to aspire for something bold and long-lasting like the Forest Amphitheater on the UNC campus. Surrounded by tall trees, open to the sky, and away from noisy roads. This would be amazing!
Suggestion
This part of our communty is begging for an ecological park: It could focus on Ecological Restoration

Reforesting in mosaics: Plant native trees and shrubs in staggered clusters, leaving meadow openings for biodiversity. Mix pioneer species with longer-lived canopy trees for layered succession.

Riparian buffer enhancement: Rebuild wide, multi-layered streamside plantings (trees, shrubs, sedges, wildflowers) to filter runoff and stabilize the creek banks.

Wetland regeneration: Identify low-lying areas for stormwater wetlands or vernal pools to slow runoff, filter pollutants, and create amphibian habitat.

Soil healing: Add organic mulch, biochar, or controlled mycorrhizal inoculations in degraded areas to help rebuild soil carbon and structure after clear-cutting.
Suggestion
I strongly agree that we need to dedicate space for mountain biking in this park. I've had three people request this.
If Roberson Creek is navigable, this would be a lovely feature.
Suggestion
Yes, a sensory garden would be a great addition.
Sure!
Suggestion
Another, larger playground with accessible features would be appreciated. Love the more natural play structures we have at other parks - would be great to continue those here.
Suggestion
An amphitheater would be a lovely addition!
Suggestion
This park would be a lovely place to continue the efforts to install an art walk along east/west streets, as well as connecting to the art installations at The Plant.
Suggestion
Walkways/hiking trails that aren't paved are lovely too!
Suggestion
Yes please! A comprehensive, connected greenway system that would allow residents to get around town without driving would be AMAZING! A greenway system in this park would connect SE and Moncure residents to connect to the Plant and points east, if connected to the Chatham Parkway South greenway.
Suggestion
Have various age groups walk in the park to get a feel for it and then provide comments in a group session. On site is better than on -line comments.
Suggestion
I would love to see dirt walking/hiking/running trails and ample parking on the site. There is plenty of construction happening all around Pittsboro, our biggest commodity is quickly becoming trees and natural space. Keep it simple, green and lightly touched.

*White Pines Nature Preserve is a great example of making good use of a large amount of beautiful space.
Suggestion
Sensory experiences provide young children an optimal inquiry experience to build their brains for problem and process learning.
An easy way to walk into water for dogs and people to wade would be nice. NOT A BEACH. This location will certainly flood, plan on it and make that part of the maintenance, what ever that looks like.
Some picnic tables around the flex lawn space would make it more accessible for folks who can get down or up from the ground anymore.
This is another way to have a multipurpose area that serves many! And the cost is mowing. Maybe even a venue......for music, movies, picnics, frisbee, yoga, martial arts, + + +
This could be sponsored by different organizations....YMCA, Center for Active Living, 4H, Boy Scouts, etc. So the end product would be great for all and the organizations would have the satisfaction ( and marketing) of contributing!
a paved/improved trail can be used by many different kind of folks. Most importantly as a way to avoid streets and still get around Pittsboro!
Suggestion
Why not? Along a greenway multi-purpose path!
Suggestion
Along a greenway path! Excellent!
Suggestion
Like a greenway! What an asset this would be, if we could move around the town without walking on shoulders of busy roadways!
Suggestion
A greenway to get pedestrians and bicyclists off the shoulderless streets and highways would be a huge asset to our town. We all want to stop driving everywhere, but walking or riding a bicycle is too dangerous.
Suggestion
I would like to see more permanent pickleball courts open to the public.
Suggestion
Courts for pickleball, tennis & badminton to help senior citizens.
Suggestion
lighted pickleball courts.
